The Studio Tour – two weekends of open studios all over Santa Fe – has come to its happy end. The last few days have been filled with taking down and packing up the framed collages that I displayed, and generally returning my studio to its normal functionality. Some of my guests requested the creation of prints of some of the collages, and I am getting that lined up.
And in response to several requests, I will be conducting collage workshops in the Autumn. I am looking for a good location, and I will post the information here in due time.
I made some updates to the website to reflect recent sales. Our resident Dragon is on its way to its “forever home” with a new customer (Yay!). Its place in the web store is taken by “Brighter Than Noonlight”. Of course, prints and cards of the Dragon are still available.
Art in the Arroyo
Santa Fe is an amazing place to live. In addition to the clear light and fresh air, it is full of artists and creatives who enliven this town with surprises. You never know what you are going to find.
This morning I was walking in the arroyo and I came across these wonderful sculptures. The unknown artist used the rocks found in the sandy river to build little vignettes. Look at the masterful use of materials at hand, the sure placement and balance of each rock. Recommendation: go, go, go see them before a monsoon flood or human indifference destroys them. Try to catch them early morning or evening before sunset: the shadows play an important part of the effect. They are in the Arroyo des Chamisas, between Richards and Rodeo Roads.
Time for me to return to my work! I have a few tasks to complete before a have a ready work space. And yet, summer breezes call me: I am taking time to get to an art opening on Saturday and the dress rehearsal of Don Giovanni at the Santa Fe Opera! What a great town!
Peace and Love,
