Artist StatementOur close planetary neighbor, Venus, is surrounded by clouds of carbon dioxide gas, which prevented the visual exploration by telescope. But probes equipped with radar, UV and infrared instruments are able to pierce the veil and map out the planets oceans and continents. Here, we view it in traditional Earth-like color.
